The Japanese import of softwood lumber decreased by 5.6% to 458,000 m³ in October compared to last year. Import from Canada increased by 8% to 200,000 m³ according to Japan Customs. The total import during January-October decreased by 7.9% to 4.78 million m³ while import from Canada decreased by only 1% to 1.65 million m³. European sawmills are still the main supplier, but the import from Europe decreased by 10% to 1.93 million m³.
