U.S. imported a total of 2.68 million m³ of softwood lumber from leading exporters in November (-2% compared to 2023), according to USDA. Canada dominates as supplier and the import from Canada was 2.21 million m³ during November (-5%) and 26.0 million m³ during January-November (+1%). The trend line for the total import of softwood lumber in the U.S. is increasing slightly when we include the figures for November.
The U.S. imported approximately 353,000 m³ of softwood lumber from main European exporters in November (+5%) and 3.34 million m³ during January-November (-19%). The trend line for the import from Europe has a clearly decreasing trend since late 2022. The trend lines for Brazil and China level off. The trend lines for New Zealand and Chile are increasing.
