North Africa's softwood lumber import up 3% in July

North Africa imported approximately 318,000 m³ of softwood lumber from leading exporters in Europe (excluding Russia) and North America in July (+3% compared to 2022). The import was 2.80 million m³ during January-July (+25%). The trend line for the import is decreasing, but is at a higher level than during the low level seen during the end of 2021.

The largest importers during January-July were Egypt with an import of 1.33 million m³ (+13% compared to 2022) and Algeria with 747,000 m³ (+71%). The trend line for Egypt is decreasing and the trend line for Algeria is increasing.

The largest exporters were Sweden with an export of 1.32 million m³ (+40%) and Finland with 986,000 m³ (+11%).
