Sweden and Finland exported approximately 257,000 m³ (+3% compared to 2022) of pine lumber to North Africa in August and 2.28 million m³ (+26%) during January-August. Sweden and Finland exported approximately 120,000 m³ (+22%) of pine lumber to main European markets in August and 1.32 million m³ (+1%) during January-August. The trend lines for the export to North Africa and main European markets level off.
The largest receivers of Swedish pine lumber during January-August were Egypt (+31% compared to 2022), the United Kingdom (+25%) and Norway (-12%). The largest receivers of Finnish pine lumber during January-August were Egypt (+4%), Algeria (+55%) and the United Kingdom (+-0%).
The trend line for the export of pine lumber from Sweden to North Africa is decreasing. The trend line for Finland is increasing.
The average export value (FOB) of sawn pine and spruce from Sweden and Finland decreased in August compared to previous month and compared to same month 2022. The prices are in a decreasing trend and at clearly lower levels than during parts of 2021-2022 when record high levels were seen.
