Price of Austrian spruce sawlogs in increasing trend

Statistics Austria reports that the price of spruce sawlogs was 93.35 €/FMO for type B media 2b in November (+2.1% compared to previous month, -11.9% compared to same month in 2022). The price has decreased clearly since the beginning of 2023, but increased in November for the third month in a row (compared to previous month).

According to preliminary figures from Eurostat, Austria imported approximately 704,000 m³ of softwood logs in September (+7% compared to 2022). A total of 4.99 million m³ of softwood logs were imported during January-September (-4%). The trend line for the total import is decreasing. The trend lines for the import from the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, and the Slovak Republic are also decreasing. The trend line for Slovenia is increasing.
