The East Asian import of softwood lumber increased significantly in 2014 and the first month of 2015 indicates a continued substantial increase. It is primarily the Canadian export that accounts for the large increase. Canada increased their softwood lumber export to East Asia by 85 percent during the first quarter of 2015, compared to same quarter last year. "Canada is going strong in East Asia, increasing its market share from a third to almost half of East Asias total lumber import in a year," says Jenny Wessung, CEO Woodstat.
