Residential buildings started in China down 25.0% during Jan-Jul
According to National Bureau of Statistics of China, building projects with a total floor space of 570 million m² were started in China during January-July (-24.5% compared to 2022), of which 415 million m² were residential (-25.0%).
A total floor space of 666 million m² were sold in China during January-July (-6.5% compared to 2022), of which 576 million m² were residential (-4.3%).
The sold floor space of residential buildings was larger than the started floor space during January-July, the difference was 161 million m².

The trend line for residential buildings under construction is decreasing.
The trend line for the total floor space of real estate for sale in China is increasing.
The trend line for import of lumber in China is decreasing. The trend line for residential housing starts is also decreasing.
